Welcome To February 4th
Today’s Important Headlines
📂 Hedi Slimane is uploading his runway archives online
Hedi Slimane has begun uploading full runway shows from his Saint Laurent and Céline eras to his personal website, making them freely accessible in HD with original soundtracks. This is only the latest phase of his long-running Fashion Anthology project. Many fans are now hoping the archive will expand to include his era-defining Dior Homme runway shows, which remain difficult to find in full online.
👖Slim pants are officially back
After years of oversized silhouettes, slim pants are returning at an industry level. Prada has launched a campaign centered on slim track pants, while Jonathan Anderson’s Dior, along with Khaite, Jil Sander, Acne Studios, and others, have shown narrow silhouettes for Spring and Pre-Fall 2026. The shift does not signify the end of the baggy-era, but a widening of silhouettes and styling options.
🛒 Polymarket is opening a free grocery store in NYC
Prediction market Polymarket announced it will open a fully free grocery store in New York City on February 12, stocked with food and open to all, no purchase required. The timing is cynical, as Polymarket faces growing tax scrutiny, and the possibility of being classified as a gambling operation. Kalshi’s grocery giveaway yesterday in NYC was likely motivated by the same thing.
🖼️ First ever Art Basel Qatar is underway
Art Basel’s first fair in Qatar has opened. The debut reflects increasing global interest in Gulf-based collectors, institutions, and state-backed cultural investment. As Western art markets cool, the industry looks further afield where it believes that future capital and influence may consolidate.
👟 Adidas hosts event at iconic Communist Party HQ
Adidas hosted a Stan Smith event inside the former French Communist Party headquarters in Paris, designed by Oscar Niemeyer. The Stan Smith has long been treated as an object of design, repeatedly reworked by fashion figures like Raf Simons and Phoebe Philo. The venue has hosted Prada, Dior, and Louis Vuitton shows for over two decades.
⛏️ Rosa Parks is now a playable Minecraft character
Minecraft released a free DLC focused on global Civil Rights movements, featuring figures like Rosa Parks, John Lewis, and Malala Yousafzai. Online reactions were split. Some framed it as “woke is back,” expressing surprise that it was not rage bait, while others found the DLC funny, surreal, and faintly dystopian.
🌕 Four moons appeared over St. Petersburg
Residents in St. Petersburg reported seeing four moons in the sky. It was the result of a rare optical phenomenon known as a paraselene, which occurs when moonlight refracts through ice crystals in freezing air, creating bright mock moons roughly 22 degrees from the real one. The glitch-like effect required precise conditions, clear skies, and luck, turning an ordinary winter night into something briefly uncanny.
