Welcome To February 13th
Today’s Important Headlines
NYFW collections we like
With New York Fashion Week three days in, designers across the city are presenting their latest collections. Our favorites include Public School (back after a 7 year hiatus), Ralph Lauren, Coach, Tory Burch, and Proenza Schouler.
Harmony Korine and Arca are working on STILLZ’s first feature film
Harmony Korine is producing and Arca is scoring Barrio Triste, the debut feature from STILLZ, the acclaimed director behind music videos for Bad Bunny and Rosalía, which is headed to North American theaters later this year. The found footage film set in 1990s Medellín follows four teens and already premiered across Venice, Toronto, and New York festival runs, with a skateboard drop through Korine’s EDGLRD studio.
Berlin exhibits to see this week
Don’t miss Rico Puhlmann’s Fashion Photography 50s–90s at Museum für Fotografie; Charmaine Poh’s Make a travel deep of your inside and don’t forget me to take at PalaisPopulaire; Ho Tzu Nyen’s 2 Stories: Voids & Times at Neugerriemschneider; Mark Leckey’s Enter Thru Medieval Wounds at Julia Stoschek Foundation; and Cornelia Parker’s Stolen Thunder (A Storm Gathering) at KINDL – Centre for Contemporary Art.
Vogue’s new editor is not like Anna Wintour
In a new The New York Times video, Chloe Malle and Anna Wintour discuss Malle’s first issue leading Vogue, and their answers reveal a clear generational split. Malle rejects the distant, too cool editor persona and says she would use a larger budget to raise pay and expand overworked teams, while Wintour gives careful, corporate answers about resources. The takeaway is straightforward. Vogue is signaling a shift away from cultivated nonchalance toward authenticity and empathy.
Kim Gordon from Sonic Youth is making trap music
Off a strong run of solo records, Kim Gordon’s new single about AI’s future meshes electronic and trap in a way that fits comfortably with 2026’s electroclash revival or even a Playboi Carti style beat. Catch the 72 year old legend on her European tour in April and her new album Play Me on March 13.
The Olympic Village ran out of condoms
Athletes used up a reported 10,000 free condoms at the Olympic Village in just three days, forcing organizers to rush a restock. Condom distribution has been standard since the Summer Olympics began the program in 1988, with recent Games typically supplying hundreds of thousands.
