🔩 Neon Genesis Evangelion drops electric screwdrivers
The anime franchise has added electric screwdrivers to its long list of licensed collaborations, continuing its infamous history of turning everyday objects into Evangelion merch. Past releases have included canned bread, matryoshka dolls, waist warmers, buckets, and humidifiers.
🎬 Tom Ford is making his first movie in 10 years
Tom Ford has started production for Cry to Heaven, his first feature film since stepping away from fashion to focus entirely on cinema. The film, which adapts Anne Rice’s classic novel, is produced and paid for by Ford himself, who retains full creative control. The cast includes longtime collaborator Aaron Taylor-Johnson, along with Colin Firth, Nicholas Hoult, Adele, and Hunter Schafer. Benjamin Kracun, known for Promising Young Woman and The Substance, is the cinematographer.
🏔️ Salomon pivots to fashion, naming former Margiela designer as first creative director
Salomon has appointed Finnish designer Heikki Salonen, known for his 12-year tenure at MM6 Maison Margiela, as its first-ever creative director. Other outerwear brands like Arc’teryx and Salomon have pushed deeper into fashion through designer collaborations, and this hire suggests Salomon is moving from pure performance gear toward culture-driven mountain sports lifestyle ahead of the 2026 Winter Games.

Some of the most under appreciated heroes of 9/11 were the search and rescue dogs deployed to Ground Zero after the attacks.
More than 300 trained dogs worked alongside firefighters, police, and federal task forces, searching unstable rubble for survivors and later for human remains. Guided by handlers through smoke and debris, they relied on scent detection and reward based training as recovery efforts progressed.

The Evangelion merch rabbit hole never gets old. Canned bread and buckets were already pushing it but electric screwdrivers feels like a deliberate joke at this point. My buddy bought the NERV humidifer ironically and now uses it daily. The Salomon hire is interesting too, makes sense with outerwear brands chasing that gorpcore crossover before the Winter Games.
