AI-assisted gaming mash-up mods are viral this week

Call of Duty in Minecraft. Credit: @DramaAlert

AI coding tools are helping modders reverse-engineer games and mash them together, producing insane creations like Minecraft inside Elden Ring, Skate 3 in GTA IV, and Spider-Man and Escape from Tarkov in Skyrim. Veteran modders are pushing back against the trend, dismissing some of the results as low-effort “AI slop.” (In other gaming news, the U.S. military is reportedly using Xbox-style controllers to operate laser weapons that shoot down drones in the Strait of Hormuz.)

  • In 2024, Lucki and Carti had a brief online beef that seemed to end with a phone call later that month.

  • At ComplexCon this week, an unidentified person allegedly slashed Lucki in the face during a fight outside the venue, while Carti watched from a car window. Four people were hurt.

  • Lucki said he was fine that night, then posted on Monday showing his bandages and asking LAPD to return his car

  • LAPD is reportedly investigating it as an attempted murder, with no suspects identified and no arrests. Carti’s camp has not been officially confirmed as involved.

Bricks of cocaine are washing up on Florida’s beaches

Recently, nearly 40 pounds of cocaine washed up on the shores of Brevard County, Florida. Bricks of cocaine regularly surface in the Florida Keys (where they’re known as “square grouper”) because traffickers will throw them overboard to evade authorities. This recent wave is exceptional though. Some residents have made fortunes by “fishing” for the packages and selling them.
