London Fashion Week + Milan Fashion Week notes and standouts
Standout collections: MM6, Burberry, Diesel, Public School, Mulberry, Geordie Campbell, Prada, Roberto Cavelli, Emporio Armani, Marni, Gucci, Jil Sander, MowalolaSól
Glenn Martens’ final collection for Diesel featured a particularly hedonistic audience, with attendees making out, headbanging, and generally giving into the spectacle.
Collections from London and Milan felt much more compelling, important, and centered around the clothing in contrast to New York
One of the world’s best art book fairs is this weekend in New York
New York’s highly anticipated Printed Matter book fair runs from September 24-27th at MoMA PS1, and, “will feature over 310 exhibitors, including interdisciplinary artistic practices, collectives, small presses, self-publishing artists, rare book dealers, institutions, and distributors.”
Pierpaolo Piccioli is leaving Balenciaga
After just over a year as Balenciaga’s creative director, Pierpaolo Piccioli is reportedly set to step down, according to industry insiders. The departure comes amid reports of weakening sales, particularly in menswear, alongside increasingly mixed reception to Piccioli’s collections. Piccioli never quite filled Demna’s very large shoes, raising the question of who could take over next. Martine Rose, Willy Chavarria, Shayne Oliver, and Mowalola all feel like compelling possibilities.
The Vogue World event embodied the worst of fashion
From questionable sponsors like OpenAI and MetaGlasses, to bizarre Chinese robots walking down the runway (Miuchu Prada was not impressed), Vogue World was a bizarre event that many felt represented the worst of fashion in 2026: driven by corporate interests, overly concerned with spectacle over substance, and celebrity obsessed. Does anyone really care what Cardi B, Alicia Keys, MGK, Jennifer Lopez, and Matthew McConaughey’s son have to do with fashion? Take a look at Juan Costa Paz’s response to the criticism.
Your favorite childhood cultural rivalries are now owned by the same monopoly
