PFW Reports: Acne Studios SS27

Inside the brand's showcase

Dom (one of our curators) attended Acne’s showcase for their SS27 collection as part of Fashion Week. This was his experience.

I just landed that morning, so this was the first thing that I did for Paris Fashion Week. It took me 20 minutes to walk to the showroom. I made the mistake of wearing a long-sleeved shirt (an acne shirt actually).

I walk in there and it was like a breath of fresh air. They’re giving out drinks: water, sparkling water. They have these guys passing out little snack cakes, which were really good.

On the floor they had this dressed mannequin laid down on a mattress. There was a fan pointed at it (not, as far as I know, part of the installation) and it was blowing the pages around.

I thought the pieces in the showcase were very true to Acne and the ethos of the collection, which was sort of about reframing the “uniform” in a social context. What would formal wear look like in an era when our ‘work’ is dressing well enough to signal a place in the social hierarchy? This collection is one answer.
