  • NYFW’s changing culture was a hot topic of discussion. In particular, people were critiquing the guest lists for shows and after parties, where the same rotating group of micro-celebrities are always invited at the expense of creatives actively contributing to the collections.

  • Kai Canat presented the first collection under his eponymous brand, Vivet, to immensely divisive reactions from the public

  • John Kiriakou (former CIA officer and whistleblower) walked NYFW for Elena Velez

“Crashout,” “looksmaxxing,” “meme coin,” and 1000+ other internet terms are now officially in the dictionary

1,400 new words and definitions were just added to Merriam-Webster’s online dictionary, including “cuffing season,” “crashout,” “looksmaxxing,” “meme coin,” “parasocial,” “copium,” “shapewear,” “Sunday scaries,” “uncanny valley,” and “vibe coding.” If you’re wondering how exactly Merriam-Webster decides what gets added, according to its site, “a word gets into a dictionary when it is used by many people who all agree that it means the same thing.” The full process can be found here.

The Stanford Prison Experiment is being recreated and streamed on Netflix

One of the most famous and controversial social experiments, the Stanford Prison Experiment, is being replicated once again, this time by Netflix. The sociological experiment will place 30 participants in a prison, randomly assigning half as guards and half as prisoners. It will examine the systems of power, ethics, and hierarchies that develop even when participants know their roles are fake, ultimately asking: does absolute power corrupt absolutely?

Kim Kardashian awarded €1 in damages for her 2016 Paris robbery

A Paris court awarded Kim Kardashian a symbolic €1 in civil damages (which is all that she requested) for her infamous 2016 armed robbery at the Hôtel de Pourtalès. The $6 million worth of jewelry stolen during the robbery was separately reimbursed to Kardashian through insurance payouts. In France, the perpetrators have become known as “les papys braqueurs,” or “Grandpa Robbers,” because six of them were over the age of 60.
