The Stanford Prison Experiment is being recreated and streamed on Netflix
One of the most famous and controversial social experiments, the Stanford Prison Experiment, is being replicated once again, this time by Netflix. The sociological experiment will place 30 participants in a prison, randomly assigning half as guards and half as prisoners. It will examine the systems of power, ethics, and hierarchies that develop even when participants know their roles are fake, ultimately asking: does absolute power corrupt absolutely?
Adrian Bianco, founder and editor in chief of sabukaru Online passed away
Adrian Bianco passed away this week at the age of 40. He is best known as the founder of sabukaru, an independent Tokyo-based digital magazine exploring Japanese and international subcultures through anime and film, fashion, and music. As founder and editor-in-chief, he shaped sabukaru’s distinct editorial voice and built its network of international contributors, ranging from friends and readers-turned-writers, to small creatives and industry insiders.

A Paris court awarded Kim Kardashian a symbolic €1 in civil damages (which is all that she requested) for her infamous 2016 armed robbery at the Hôtel de Pourtalès. The $6 million worth of jewelry stolen during the robbery was separately reimbursed to Kardashian through insurance payouts. In France, the perpetrators have become known as “les papys braqueurs,” or “Grandpa Robbers,” because six of them were over the age of 60.
