Supreme and Teenage Engineering drop a pocket-sized sampler
Two brands with famously devoted cult followings have unveiled their first collaboration: the Supreme x Teenage Engineering EP-133 sampler. The compact device is small enough to slip into a pocket or bag, and the promotional video features experimental Swedish producer Varg pushing it to its limits. The sampler features Supreme’s box logo, retails for $398, and is a guaranteed future grail for collectors. Supreme has a long history of working with audio production companies, including its 2021 collaboration with AKAI on the MPC Live II sampler and 2024 collaborations with Roland on a drum machine and synthesizer.
These videos essays will help you make sense of fashion week
Is Demna’s Gucci echoing Italian rationalism and fascist architecture? What does Miu Miu leaning into their vintage bubble soles mean about how we define luxury? Why makes Matthieu Blazy’s new Channel nearly universally praised? Are Anne Demuelmeester and ERD washed? What does it mean for a fashion brand to worldbuild, and who is succeeding at it?
The FBI is hiring UFC fighters to train its agents
Just weeks after FBI Director Kash Patel was seen celebrating in the U.S. men’s hockey team locker room, and following the White House’s announcement to host the UFC “Freedom 250” fight event in June, it has now been confirmed that Patel is partnering with UFC CEO Dana White to have former UFC champions train FBI agents to “better protect the American people.”
New fund will pay for artists’ tour costs
With significant financial contributions from Lorde, Radiohead, Harry Styles, The Cure, and Lily Allen, the UKAT Fund will allow UK artists to receive either £7,000 or up to 40 percent of their total tour costs. Eligibility for the fund is open to artists of all genres and career stages, with applications closing in a week (March 20).
Morrissey cancelled a concert because he was sleepy
Former lead singer of The Smiths Morrissey canceled his sixth show of the tour, citing “loud techno singing” that rendered his Valencia hotel stay an “indescribable hell.” He stated that, “it will take [him] one year to recover. And that is an understatement.” Other strange moments this year include Morrissey blaming both the Turkish government and the Israel–Palestine conflict for a canceled show, as well as asserting total credit for The Smiths.
Publishers are adding TikTok references to old books
A user on X discovered that her eBook copy of the first Pretty Little Liars book, originally published in 2005, had been edited to replace a reference to the TV show Fear Factor with a TikTok. It’s alarming to think that media is being casually edited without any acknowledgment, and the TikTok reference doesn’t even make sense in the context of the scene, which now reads as if a character invited her friends over to watch a single TikTok.
