The Antwerp Six are getting their first museum exhibition
MoMu, Antwerp’s iconic fashion museum, is hosting a new exhibition marking the 40th anniversary of the Antwerp Six’s international breakthrough. The show presents a hometown retrospective on the six influential designers: Dirk Bikkembergs, Ann Demeulemeester, Walter Van Beirendonck, Dries Van Noten, Dirk Van Saene, and Marina Yee. The exhibition opens on Saturday and is the first dedicated entirely to the group.
10 iconic Off-White designs are being updated by 10 leading contemporary creatives
Off-White™ is handing over 10 of its signature designs to a roster of creatives including Kid Cudi, A$AP Nast, Guillermo Andrade (424 label), Ava Nirui (formerly of Heaven Marc Jacobs), and others, each reworking one unique piece in their own way. The results will roll out in staggered releases over the next year and a half, supported by a series of events across different cities. Each contributor takes on a different category, from “JEANS”, “EYEWEAR”, “SNEAKERS”, “OBJECTS”, and more.
Matthew Williams joins Travis Scott to co-run Oakley’s creative vision
Matthew Williams is stepping into a broader creative role at Oakley, overseeing apparel, footwear, and accessories, while Travis Scott remains on as Chief Visionary Officer. Williams, who founded 1017 ALYX 9SM and served as creative director at Givenchy, is a natural fit for the role, drawing on a long-running collaboration with Scott dating back to the Been Trill era, as well as a luxury-meets-utility design language that Oakley has been cultivating in recent years.
A Pop Smoke café is opening in his childhood neighborhood
A coffee shop honoring Pop Smoke is set to open in Canarsie, Brooklyn. It’s being spearheaded by his family, and it’s called “Pop’s Place.” Announced by his brother Obasi Jackson, the project is hiring experienced baristas as it moves toward opening. This is only the latest community work from Pop Smoke’s family.
There’s a humanoid robot in the White House
On the final day of an international summit focused on integrating technology and AI to improve global education, Melania Trump did a walk-out beside a humanoid robot. Upon entering the room, the robot, known as Figure 03, addressed the audience, thanking them. It is being used as a housecleaning assistant in the White House. The whole event was very characteristic of Trump’s PR approach: vaguely America-first and only superficially impressive.
